After considering many construction methods for the structural elements and insulation of the building, the consultant and main contractor decided to use a structural steel frame with hollowcore precast concrete panels and Senergy Classic PB EIFS.
This method offered both cost and construction time benefits. BASF was specified as the preferred supplier of the insulation system following a number of presentations and visits to other ongoing EIFS projects in the UAE. The development of Saadiyat Island includes hotels, leisure, retail and residential accommodation. BASF have been specified on other projects in the development.
The Senergy Classic PB EIFS also provided versatility in terms of the exterior design. The architect incorporated several design features in the building, including a back-lit steel decorative panel and a pattern of deep grooves. The Senergy system enabled the grooves to be easily incorporated.
Upon completion in December 2009, the client is satisfied that the solution has delivered on its promises in terms of ease and speed of installation, capability to deliver on aesthetic requirements and provide the engineering value – namely insulation.
